Children’s Classes

Mommy and Me: 6-Week Class:

Our introduction to the world of dance and movement through playful activities. The first step to explore gross motor skills, body awareness, social skills and music using props (scarves, ribbons, bean bags, etc.) to enhance creativity. 6- or 8-week sessions

Pre-School Ballet/Tap Combination:

Basic Ballet and Tap techniques with a concentration on coordination, fine motor skills, flexibility and music appreciation. Using a creative approach to promote self-confidence and fun using props and dance games, all leading to better technique and musicality. 45 min/ once a week

Ballet/Tap Combination:

Ballet and Tap technique class using terminology to build dance skills and the love of movement. Creativity is encouraged to add quality to the overall knowledge of dance. The start of challenging techniques, terminology and intermediate skills. 1 hr/ once a week or 1 ½ hrs once a week

Intermediate/Advanced Classes

Ballet:

Ballet technique and terminology with careful correction to develop dancers with control, body awareness and flawless technique. All levels from age 8 and up learn the skills that will help them develop as dancers in any genre. All styles of Ballet are incorporated to create a well- rounded disciplined dancer. 1 hr or 1 ½ hrs / 1 or multiple classes per week

Tap:

Basic Tap technique with an emphasis on terminology, timing and rhythm. Stressing clear concise sounds and technical execution using your feet as a percussive instrument. Great for developing coordination. 1 hr / 1 or 2 times per week

Jazz:

Multiple styles of jazz technique, high energy and fast paced that include isolations, turns, leaps, progressions and combinations. Traditional jazz, Classical jazz, Broadway jazz using music to promote creativity, flexibility and conditioning. Emphasis on style and technique. 1 hr or 1 ½ hrs / once a week

Acrobatics:

Basic Acrobatics technique taught in a safe environment to develop precise skills (rolls, cartwheels, bridges, headstands, handstands, walkovers) on mats. Classic gymnastic conditioning creating control, flexibility and muscle memory, incorporating dance skills and great technique. 1 hr / once a week

Lyrical:

A hybrid of Ballet and Jazz styles based on Ballet technique. Warm-up, stretching and combinations set to contemporary music usually telling a story. Emotion and passion extend the creativity of this genre. 1 hr or 1 ½ hr / once a week

Hip Hop:

Athletic urban street dance with an emphasis on attitude, isolations, style and rhythm. Free-style dance with a great freedom of movement that is highly motivated by dance videos and the newest music. 1 hr / once a week

Pointe:

An extension of Ballet technique performed with Pointe Shoes. A pre-requisite of at least 5 years of Ballet. The teacher must invite you to participate and a required 2 Ballet classes must be taken in addition the Pointe class. 1 hr / once a week

Contemporary:

A new genre of dance set on the principles of Ballet, Jazz, Modern, and Lyrical that strives to break the rules and unite them all. This new style incorporates floorwork, fluid movements, and pushing the boundaries of each genre. A fusion of all styles connecting the mind and body. Ballet is recommended but not required. 1 hr / once a week
